The filing period for candidates in the November 5, 2024 General Election ended Friday but the nomination period has been extended for several races.

The Imperial County Registrars of Voters' Office says that the extension applies in 19 county races where incumbents did not file for reelection. Those races include the Brawley City Council, Calexico City Council, El Centro City Council, Calipatria City Council and Holtville City Council. Other nomination periods extended are Imperial County Office of Education Board of Trustees, Area III, Central union High School District Board of Trustees, Magnolia, Mulberry, San Pasqual and Westmorland School District Boards and Imperial Community College Board of Trustees, Area 3. 

The new deadline for submitting nomination papers in these races is 5:00 p.m. on August 14, 2024.
