El Centro Police Department conducted a DUI Checkpoint on Friday, July 5.

The checkpoint was staffed by a Sergeant, 9 officers and a dozen Post 1908 Explorers. The checkpoint resulted in 2 Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs arrests. An additional ten citations were issued, nine for driving without a license and one for not having an updated license. The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
