The City of El Centro has a budget.

A a Thursday night special meeting the El Centro City Council approved a balanced budget for Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025. The budget has projected $40.4 million in expenditures with revenue of nearly $38.7 million in revenue. The $1.8 million shortfall will come from the City's Reserve Fund. Public Safety has been allocated slightly over 56 percent of the new budget. That includes new positions and operating expenses. The Capital Project Fund shows $26 million in projects including Public Safety and Public Works Infrastructure projects. The budget includes matching funds for road projects including the South Imperial Avenue Extension Project and construction of the new Police Department building. According to Mayor Sylvia Marroquin, " This budget reflects priorities that cover pubic safety, infrastructure improvements, parks and recreation, and demonstrates that we are focused on the quality of life of our residents".
