The California highway Patrol is investigating an early morning fatal accident.

Officers responded to the area of Even Hewes Highway and Austin Road at about 4:54 a.m. Sunday. Officers located a vehicle in a canal. It is suspected that the vehicle tried to jump the canal and didn't make it across. One victim was located and pronounced dead at the scene. No other victims were located. The accident remains under investigation.
