A Friday evening traffic accident claimed the life of a Somerton, Arizona man.

The accident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. in the area of Avenue C and County 14th Street. According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO), a Toyota Tacoma was southbound on Avenue C and failed to stop at a blinking stop sign and collided with a Ford F-150. The driver and two passengers in the F-150 were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center( YRMC)  where one of the passengers, Irwin Twist, 75, of Somerton, died. The driver and a passenger in the Toyota both sustained serious injuries and were take to YRMC. The driver was later flown to a Phoenix area hospital for further treatment. According to YCSO, impairment and speed appear to be a factor in the collision. The accident remains under investigation.
