The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services will conduct three prescribed burns over two days.

According to the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District (APCD), the three burns have been authorized for June 11 & 12 at the Sonny Bono National Wildlife Refuge near Calipatria. The Prescribed Burns will begin at about 10:00 a.m. and conclude by 3:00 p.m.  According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the burns are scheduled to reduce the risk of wildfire and improve the wildlife game habitat. The burns will be monitored by fire prevention agencies and are scheduled when atmospheric conditions are favorable to reduce smoke impact to citizens.
