Mendez Brahan had been the leader of a family business. The business was Human Smuggling. He is facing six counts related to human smuggling and conducting financial transactions with the proceeds of specified unlawful activity. He was originally indicted in 2019. The family business allegedly smuggled hundreds of people in the past 10 years, charging between $6,000 and $8,000 each. The suspects three adult children have already admitted to their participation with their father. The suspect faces ten years in prison if convicted.
