(The first in a series of thunderstorms)...It arrived Monday afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service says storm activities is expected into the coming weekend. Over 45 mile per hour winds swept through the County Monday afternoon into the evening. Thunderstorms were reported in the extreme outlying areas of the county, creating flood damage to some areas. The winds knocked down trees and some power poles in several communities. Northern Ogilby Road was washed out by flood waters, with large rocks and debri in the roadway. Ogilby was also closed at Interstate 8. To the extreme West, Sweeny Pass Road, S-2 and Imperial Highway at Shell Canyon were closed due to flooding, with several large rocks washed into the roadways. Several defective traffic signals were reported, especially at Dunaway Road and Evan Hewes Highway. More storm activity is expected this afternoon and throughout the week, into the coming weekend.
