The driver of a hit & run car fled the scene of the accident and abandoned a puppy in the car.

The accident occurred at about 12:49 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Hamilton Avenue in El Centro. A white PT Cruised crashed into a parked pickup truck and the PT Cruiser driver was last seen running westbound on Hamilton. It was reported that the fleeing driver was picked up by someone in a black SUV. A passenger in the PT Cruiser also fled the scene and was seen walking east on Hamilton. Left behind was a small puppy that police turned over to the pound. The accident remains under investigation.
