Five people were taken to a local hospital after fire destroyed 3 mobile homes.

The Thursday afternoon fire at the Sunbeam Lake RV Park destroyed three mobile homes, The five individuals were in one of the residences.The other two homes were unoccupied at the time of the fire. Imperial County Fire Department responded to the fire and received mutual aid from the El Centro, Holtville and Brawley Fire Departments as well as from Centinela State Prison. The cause of the fire is under investigation but initial indications are that it was possibly electrical in nature. Fire fighters remained on scene for over two hours battling the fire and protecting nearby structures in 109 degree heat. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
