(Over half a million dollars worth of Fentanyl seized)...It happened earlier this month at the Calexico West Port.

In a release issued by the US Customs and Border Protection, a 28 year old man was also taken into custody. The CBP says the man had driven a 2014 Ford up to the Port. The driver and the vehicle were sent to the secondary inspection area. The vehicle was put through an imaging system that detected anomalies in the gas tank. Officers escorted the driver to a secure area. A narcotic detector dog also alerted to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 43 packages in the gas tank. The contents of the packages tested positive for Fentanyl. The packages weighed over 58 pounds. The Fentanyl was valued at an estimated $658,200. The CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle. The driver was turned over to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations., and was later booked into the El Centro Detention Facility.
