Captain Michael D. Lee is scheduled to assume command of Naval Air Facility, El Centro. The ceremony starts at 11:00 am. In a traditional naval ceremony, leadership of the installation will be transferred from Captain William A. Perkins. The guest speaker for the event is Rear Admiral Stephen Barnett, Commander Navy Region Southwest. Perkins has served as the installation's commanding officer since March 2020. He will be retiring after 28 years of honorable service. Captain Lee said he was excited to be returning to NAFEC after many years. Lee said he remembered his early days flying around thge desert as part of a helicopter detachment, and now he has the pleasure of leading the outstanding team at NAF El Centro.
