(Captain Scott Laverty is calling it a career)...Laverty has been the Commander of the El Centro Sector CHP for almost 5 years.

Wednesday, the El Centro California Highway Patrol hosted a retirement luncheon for Captain Laverty. The Captain said during the luncheon, having served for almost five years as Commander in the Imperial Valleyt, it was bittersweet. Especially after working on filling vacancies, equipment, and a new facility that wil better serve the people of California and the communities in the Imperial Valley. Groundbreaking for the new facility was held March 29th. The facility is being built off 4th Street in South El Centro. The Captain began his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Riverside County Sheriff's Reserve program and the United States Army Military Police, and with the Knsas City Police Department before joining the California Highway Patrol in 2001
