State and local leaders will meet to discuss the New River.
The New River Community Forum will provide an opportunity for residents to receive updates on the New River Improvement Project which is expected to break ground this year. Representatives of CalEPA, Colorado River Water Quality Control Board, California Department of Water Resources, Imperial County Board of Supervisors, City of Calexico and Comite Civico del Valle will meet with Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia. The state has committed $28 million to address the public health, environmental, economic and safety issues associated with the polluted river. The Forum will be held Friday, April 8, 2022, in person at the City of Calexico Council Chambers, Imperial County Administration Center in El Centro and at the Comite Civico del Valle in Brawley. The meeting will also be available on ZOOM.
