Calexico High School students walked out and left the campus Thursday morning.
The walkout started shortly after 8:00 a.m. when students began gathering in front of th Enrique " Kiki " Camarena Library.According to Calexico Unified School District officials, Calexico City Councilman Raul Ureña appeared to be leading the walkout. Students marched to the district offices. Students then marched down State Route 98 to Encinas Avenue. The students then returned to the library where they stayed through the school day.
Calexico teachers and the district have been locked in contentious labor negotiations that has left the teachers with out a contract.
