(A physical altercation was reported Sunday evening)....Yuma County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call.

The altercation was reported in the desert area near Somerton. After arriving, the deputies discovered the altercation had escalated to a shooting., and no one related to the incident were on scene. At the time, the victim was being transported to the Somerton Police Department on an ATV. He was then transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center. The victim had suffered various gunshot wounds and was last listed in stable condition. The investigation was turned over to the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Bureau. After contacting witnesses, they were able to identify and locate the suspect. He was identified as 46 year old Abelarde Valenzuela Conde, a resident of Yuma. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center, charged with attempted 2nd degree murder.
