A traffic accident shut down Highway 86 near Desert Shores.

The accident was reported at about 6:44 p.m. at Highway 86 and Desert Sores Road. Authorities reported both northbound lanes of the highway were closed due to the accident and there was no detour available. The closure was expected to remain in effect until at least 11:00 p.m. Few details on the accident are available. The Imperial County Coroner's Office responded to the scene.
