El Centro Fire Department responded to an early Sunday morning fire.

The was fire was reported just minutes after 5:00 a.m. Sunday. Responding personnel found a single-story home burning in the 500 block of Vine Street. Mutual aid was requested and firefighters and equipment from the City of Holtville, the City of Imperial and Imperial County Fire responded. A total of 4 engine companies, 1 quick response vehicle and 5 command vehicles responded with 19 fire personnel on-scene. The fire was controlled within about 20 minutes and firefighters remained on-scene for about 2 hours looking for hidden signs of fire in the building. Two people were displaced by the blaze and were assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
