Imperial County are updating the local Health Officer orders.

The new orders align with the current California Department of Public Health masking guidance. Effective at Midnight February 16, 2022, fully vaccinated individuals are no longer required to wear masks in most indoor public settings. Unvaccinated persons are required to wear masks in all indoor public settings and businesses. Universal masking, regardless of vaccination status, will remain in certain specified settings. The settings where masks will be required include public transit, indoors in K-12 schools and childcare, healthcare settings, state and local correctional facilities, homeless shelters, long-term care settings, and adult and senior care facilities.

According to Imperial County Health Officer Dr. Stephen Munday, " Changes to indoor masking requirements are being made given the steady decline in cases of COVID-19 and hospitalizations locally and statewide". Imperial County residents are urged to continue to follow COVID-19 safety precautions, including frequent hand washing, maintaining appropriate distance in public, and staying at home when sick. Vaccinations continue to be available by taking an appointment through my turn.ca.gov. Testing for the virus is also available.
