El Centro police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred early Friday morning.

The accident was reported at about 1:51 a.m. when a pickup truck ran into a utility pole partially knocking down the pole. The truck also struck a nearby parked car. The driver of the pickup fled the scene but witnesses were able to give investigating officers a description of the suspect and his truck and they were located a short time later. The driver of the truck was cited for Driving Under the Influence as well as Hit and Run.
