(IVC seeking public participation)...They are launching a contest to determine the look of the school's new mascot.

Javier Melara, Associated Students Government President, says Imperial Valley College is currently in the process of changing the Arab mascot and is asking for input from the community. He said the contest is being held so that everyone will have a chance to be a part of this historic change. It is a Mascot Drawing Contest. It consists of the top three voted on mascots, Desert Warriors, Desert Fox, and Suns. The committee will be judging the contest entries and select the top 3 submissions, that will then be submitted to a vote of the full campus after being toucched up by a graphic artist All entries mustt be submitted by Debruary 28 and must include a name and aartwork for the proposed new mascot. The new mascot cannot portray any religious or ethnic group. Entry forms and guidelines are available on the Mascot Identity Taskforce webpage. The first 25 eeligible submissions will recieve a swag bag feat5uring new mascot paraphernalia.
