(Redistricting around the state)...Redistricting is a process conducted every 10 years.

Political boundaries are adjusted using population numbers obtained from the census. The County, Imperial Irrigation District and school boards have all gone thru the process. Their new maps are available on their individual websites. The state has also gone through the redistricting process. That process is bringing changes to Imperial County. The US Congressional representative will not longer be Juan Vargas. He will remain as the Congressman for the 51st District, but that district will now only include areas in San Diego. Imperial County will be in the 25th Congressional District represented by Congressman Raul Ruiz. The Imperial County will be in the 18th State Senate District. The Assembly District is now the 36th District, but the territory is pretty much the same as before, and is still represented currrently by Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia.
