(One big holiday down)....The next one is this weekend.

Residents have a week to recuperate from the Christmas weekend and get ready t\for the New Years weekend. Thye County and IID non emergency offices will be closed on Friday. City Government, however, vary. The City Halls in Brawley and El Centro will be closed Thursday and Friday. Others have not said. If you have business with any of the Government offices, it may be wise to call ahead for their holiday hours. The California Highway Patrol will go back into the Maximum Enforcement Period, starting at 6:01 Friday evening and continuing until 11:59 Sunday night. New Years is considered a drinking holiday, which means law enforcement will be paying particular attention, looking out for impaired drivers. A designated driver is highly recommended for those partying this weekend. Federal and State offices will also be closed Friday, but not all stores will alter their hours.
