(Three Fires in the county)...They were are reported Sunday and Monday morning.

Fire officials say none of them were large enough to create the smokey haze experienced in the County Monday morning. There were two fires Sunday. One at Highway 86 and Barth Road. There was a haystack fire on La Brucheries and Wahl Roads. Monday Morning there was a fire involving vehicles at Short King and South Maria in Salton City. That fire went to a second alarm, but officials say that was to assist in mitigating the fire that had already been brought under control. The smokey haze in the southend of the county was being attributed to Mexicali fires, mostly tire burning and other debris popular this time of year.
