An El Centro woman lost $3,000 in an InstaGram scam.

The woman told El Centro police that she lost the money to a scammer on the social media site after responding to a post offering a chance to make more money. The plan didn't pan out and the woman told authorities that the scammers were now sending her  harassing messages. 

Another El Centro resident reported that they were receiving extortion messages demanding money. The resident did not respond to the threats.
