An Imperial County Superior Court jury returned a guilty verdict on charges of Robbery in the Second Degree,

Resisting Arrest, and Battery. Reynaldo Sanchez-Diaz was found guilty of all charges stemming from an incident in Calexico. Sanchez-Diaz went into the 5 Brothers Gas Station at about 2:30 a.m. on the morning of February 6, 2025 and attempted to buy alcohol. The store clerk refused to make the sale as alcohol purchases are prohibited alert 2:00 a.m Sanchez-Diaz then stole the alcohol and the clerk attempted to stop him The defendant than pushed the clerk and left the store. Calexico Police officers attempted to stop the thief but he continued to flee the area. He was eventually stopped and arrested. A sentencingheaaring is scheduled for July 23, 2025.
