(Highway Patrol Maximum Enforcement period)...The Thanksgiving Holiday is a 4-day weekend.
For the California Highway Patrol, it begins Wednesday evening. At 6:00 pm Wednesday the CHP goes into their Maximum Enforcement Period. That is the California Highway Patrol's Holiday enforcement program, in which as many officers available are assigned to patrol the roadways. The Maximum Enforcement Period ends at 11:59 Sunday night. The Patrolling officers will be on the look-out for all unsafe driving practices, including seat belt violations, speeding, distracted driving, and signs of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They say Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally one of the busiest travel times of the year. For that reason, the CHP is asking motorists to take extra care.
