(COVID 19 cases in Imperial County)...COVID 19 numbers released by the County Public Health Department.

The latest updated numbers were released Tuesday morning. They indicate the number of COVID 19 cases continue to surge upwards. According to the update, there are now 536 Active Cases of COVID 19 in Imperial County, up from 483 cases reported last week. El Centro Regional Medical Center says they are opening up their outdoor tent patient center to accommodate the new cases. There are currently 42 COVID positive patients hospitalized in the county, 21 of those are in Intensive Care. The Delta Variant cases are at 726 since the variant was first encountered in Imperial County, in December 2020. Public Health Says the age group most affected by the Delta Variant are between 18 and 49. State Metric for Imperial County indicate the positivity rate, 7- day average is at 10.4%. The new cases per day per 100,000 population is at 24.80. The total number of COVID vaccine doses administered in Imperial are now over 197,000.
