An El Centro woman reported that someone tried to scam her.

According to El Centro Police reports , the almost victim said she was called by someone who identified themselves as Jeffrey Conner and claimed to be from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The caller said that there was an open case with the woman involving a drug cartel and money laundering. The woman was told that she must purchase gift cards or her assets would be seized. The woman purchased 2 Google Play gift cards for a total of $400.00. She was then to provide Conner with the gift card numbers. However , while talking to the scammer , the woman realized it was bogus and hung up on the man before providing the gift card information.
