(Police Chief Warns of a scam)....Information was released by Calexico Police Chief Gonzalo Gerardo.

The Chief says people are being sent a letter, with a check attached. He says the letter asks the person to deposit the check into their bank account via ATM, and then asks the person to act as a secret shopper. They are instructed to go to a Walmart near them and purchase Gift cards for $500 each. Then send a photo of the cards, front and back, and the PIN. The Chief says this is a scam. He said he contacted thee company named on the check and was told they did not know what was going on and the did not have an account at the US Bank. The check in the letter is written on a US Bank account. The Chief says be aware this is a scam and just throw the letter away.
