Three accidents kept Imperial Valley emergency service providers busy overnight.

At about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday a tractor-trailer rig collided with a toy hauler at Highway 78 and Butters Road. The intersection was totally blocked for several hours. Crews were called in to off -load 24 tons of cattle feed from the big rig. HazMat crews were also called in to clean up diesel fuel that spilled. The driver of the big rig suffered major injuries. The northbound lanes of the highway remained closed for several hours as the accident site was cleared.

At about 1:44 a.m. Thursday a single vehicle accident led to two other vehicles colliding at Highway 86 and Fredricks Road. A big rig was the first involved and that was followed with two other vehicles smashing into each other. Two people were injured. Traffic was blocked northbound for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage,

Shortly before 3:00 a.m. Thursday there was a report of a single vehicle accident at Chick and Pitzer Roads. A vehicle apparently went out of control and ended up in a canal. There was at least one injury reported.

All three accidents remain under investigation.
