An early morning accident in downtown El Centro resulted in charges against a 27-year old man.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. Wednesday a car in the 600 block of Main Street went out of control and knocked over a street lamp and crashed into a storefront. City of El Centro Public Works Department employees were able to barricade off the area. The driver of the car was cited and released for driving under the influence. This is the second time in the past two weeks that a vehicle has smashed into a downtown El Centro building in the early morning hours.
