(Two convicted sex offenders arrested)....They were caught in separate incidents.

In the first incident Border Patrol agents encountered a person who had entered the US illegally, just east of Calexico. A records check revealed the person had been convicted of three counts for a sexual offense. Lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, with a requirement to register as a sex offender, contact with a minor with intent of sex, and arrage to meet with a minor. The individual had been ordered deported from the US. The second incident was at the Highway 111 checkpoint near Indio. A pick-up had entered the checkpoint. During the interview with the driver and the passenger, it was determined that they both were undocumented and attempting to transport two other individuals in the vehicle. All four were taken into custody. A records check revealed one of the occupants being transported was convicted of rape and had been sentenced to five years in prison.
