They are the September numbers. The jobless rate was released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the September report, unemployment was down slightly, as compared to the August numbers. The unemployment rate in the Imperial County was at 18.1 percent in September, down from a revised 19.7% in August, and below the year-ago estimate of 22.2%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.4% for the state and 4.6% for the nation during the same period. According to the report there were 12,300 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 68,200 in September. The latest numbers were released Friday morning.
