(House Fires Reported over the weekend)....Both were in Yuma.

The first fire was reported Saturday afternoon. A fire crew arrived at the scene in the 2200 block of east 27th Lane. They found heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the house. Residents were evacuated safely. As they worked on the rear of the house, they discovered the fire had moved into the attic The fire also spread to the house next door before being extinguished. The Red Cross was called in to assist the evacuated residents  after it was determined their residence had suffered major damage. Sunday afternoon  the fire department was called to the 1700 block of 25th Street. When they arrived fire fighters found an SUV fully involved. The fire was spreading to the home. The fire was extinguished and it was found the interior of the home had not been damaged. The cause of the fires are under investigation.
