(Local Corrections Officer receives a Medal)....The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Honored employees.

It was at the 36th annual Medal of Valor Ceremony. 148 employees were honored at the 2021 ceremony. The honors were for bravery and service. The Silver Star Medal was presented to Carlos Garcia, a Correctional Supervising Cook at the Calipatria State Prison. The Silver Star Medal is awarded for acts of bravery under extraordinary or unusual circumstances. To qualify for the award, the employee must dispolay courage in the face of potential peril while saving or attempting to save the life of another person, or distinguyish themselves by performing in stressful situations with exceptional tactics or jusgement
