A brush fire blocked a section of Even Hewes Highway Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported shortly after noon in the area of Nichols Road and Even Hewes Highway. Palm trees and brush were involved. Even Hewes was shut down between Forrester and Austin Roads for a time as Imperial County Fire Department extinguished the fire.
