(IVC Vacancy filled).....The vacancy was created after Annette Gonzalez Buttner went to jail.

Buttner had served as the Area 1 Trustee. This week the Imperial Valley College Board of Trustees appointed Hortencia Armendariz to fill the vacancy. Area 1 covers parts of Heber, most of Calexico and everything East of Calexico. She has lived in Calexico for the past 48 years. Her professional career has been in education, from teacher to administrator. She is the immediate past president of the Calexico Rotary Club. Armendariz will serve out Buttner's term on the board before she decides if she wants to run for election.
