(Officer involved shooting)....It happened June 14 in Calexico.
At the time officials said they could not released the man's name until his family was notified. The family was finally notified Monday. The County Coroner's Office says the man was 65 year old Manuel Rojas Barajas. On June 14 Calexico police responded to a report of an altercation at a bus stop. It was reported a man was tring to stab another man. The suspect was confronted at 3rd and Paulin. Police say he had a knife attatched to his wrist. Officers ordered him to release the weapon. When he refused, an officer shot him. Barajas was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident. The officer who fired the shot has been placed on administrative leave. His name has not been released.
