Imperial Valley College will be looking for a new president.

Dr. Martha Garcia announced Thursday that she is leaving IVC and will assume the Superintendent / President position at College of the Desert. Dr. Garcia , the first woman CEO in the history of Imperial Valley College has been Superintendent / President of the local community college since 2018. She will take over the COD position effective August 20 , 2021. The Imperial Community College District Board of Trustees will take action at the next board meeting , July 21 , regarding the vacancy. 

Garcia graduated from IVC in 1997 and earned a Bachelor's Degrees in Justice Administration from San Diego State University , a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling from National University and a Doctorate of Education from SDSU. She has been with IVC since 1999.
