The numbers are released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the May numbers, unemployment in Imperial County is at 15.9%, down from a revised 16.2% reported for April, and below the year ago estimate of 27.5%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 7.5% for the state and 5.5% for the nation during the same period. According to the report, there were 10,600 unemployed in May, out of a labor force of 66,700.
