The City of Imperial has been selected to receive $3 million for the State Route 86 Improvement Project.

The money was awarded by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as part of H.R. 3684 , the Invest in America Act. The funds will be used to further the design and engineering of the SR-86 Improvement Project as it passes through the City. The project scope includes landscaping the center median and shoulder , constructing a multi-purpose trail , improving traffic flow , studying how to best create a pedestrian and bicycle active transportation infrastructure , and ADA access for the community.
