(New Public Safety facility)...The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held late last week.

The facility will housing a County Sheriff's Substation, a County Fire Station and serve as a cooling center for Niland residents during the hot summer months. The project began in 2017 after the former Imperial County Community and Economic Development Agency submitted a grant application to the California Department of Housing and Community Development. The grant was approved. During construction, additional funding was requested from HCD. Those funds were also approved. Total cost for the project was just over $5.4 million. Construction was coordinated by the County Public Works Department. The Workforce and Economic Development Office was responsible for ensuring all reported were completed and submitted to the funding agency.
