The 20th Drug Take Back Day is set for Saturday.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration ( DEA ) , assisted by other law enforcement agencies ,has created the event to remove unwanted and unused prescription medications from consumers. The DEA says that studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs come from family members and friends , including home medicine cabinets. The drop off point for Imperial County will be at the Starbucks on 4th Street at the freeway in El Centro. The site will be in operation from 10AM to 2PM.
In Yuma, Yuma County Sheriff's Office will collect tablets , capsules , patches and other solid form prescription drugs from 9AM to 4PM at the YCSO Foothills Substation. YCSO will also accept vaping devices and cartridges provided the lithium batteries are removed.
