(Narcotics Smuggling attempt thwarted)...It happened recently at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint.

A white Honda Odyssey entered the checkpoint and was sent to the secondary inspection area. A Border Patrol Canine Detection Team alerted to the vehicle. The search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a large bag of blue pills and two packages wrapped in tape hidden inside the vehicle's battery. The pills tested positive for fentanyl and the packages contained heroin and cocaine. The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest. The combined weight of the narcotics came in at nearly 10 pounds, with an estimated value of over $338,000. The driver, a 30 year old US citizen, the vehicle and the narcotics were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
