Two earthquakes were reported early Wednesday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey , a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred at 12:56 a.m. and was followed by a magnitude 3.1 shaker at 1:39 a.m. The epicenter for both earthquakes was about 20 miles Southeast of Mexicali , Baja California.
