(Bi-National effort rescues man)....The man had been lost had been missing for 8 days.
Border Patrol officials say on March 12, at around 6:15 pm Mexican Officials with the Consulate notified the El Centro Sector Foreign Operations Branch of a call made by an individual who stated that he had been with a group that illegally entered the United States near the International Boundary in the mountainous area south of Ocotillo on March 7. The man told the consulate that they left a man behind because he was not able to keep up. The caller said the man was a diabetic with a heart condition. Border Patrol agents in the area were notified. Those agents along with the Mountain Disrupt Unit and the Border Search Trauma and Rescue team began the search. At around 8:18 Monday morning the MDU agents found a man who was lost and in need of assistance. BORSTAR agents arrived and immediately requested emergency medical services. The agents determined the man was the one they had been looking for. The man was unable to walk and was carried by agents to Interstate 8, where local fire emergency services were standing by. BORSTAR and local fire personnel treated the man until EMS arrived. EMS arrived and transported the man to a local hospital. Once the man is medically cleared, he will be taken to the El Centro Sector for processing for illegal entry into the United States.
