An El Centro Sector U.S. Border Patrol agent died Monday afternoon after being struck by vehicle.
Agent Alejandro Flores-Banuelos was tending to the scene of a vehicle accident on State Route 86 near North Marina Drive in the Salton City area when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Agent Flores was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. El Centro Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino said , " It is with a profound sense of loss we mourn the passing of one of our own. Border Patrol Agent Alejandro Flores. The men and women of the El Centro Sector will be deeply impacted by this tragic loss." High winds with blowing sand and dust had limited visibility on the highway at the time of the accident. Agent Flores leaves behind his wife and three children. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
