U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Otay Mesa port of entry commercial facility stopped a big load of marijuana Monday.

A tractor-trailer ig entered the port facility with a shipment manifested as papayas. The big rig was referred to the port's X-ray facility where officers noticed anomalies with the load. Further investigation led to the discovery of 873 wrapped packages of marijuana mixed in with the fruit. The marijuana had a total weight of more than 12,000 pounds and a street value estimated at $27  million. The driver was arrested.
