El Centro Police arrested a pair of car thieves Wednesday.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday , officers were flagged down by a man who reported his truck had just been stolen. The 2003 Chevy 4x4 pick up was last seen heading northbound on La Brucherie from the area of Walmart. The truck was then seen eastbound at Aten and Clark Roads , then southbound on Dogwood from Aten. Spike strips were set up on Dogwood Road near the railroad tracks in an attempt the stop the pickup but the driver swerved on to the shoulder of the road to avoid the strips. The passenger in the stolen truck jumped out in the area of Dogwood and Aten before the truck finally stopped near Dogwood and Villa. Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody and booked at Imperial County Jail. Police reported that this was the second vehicle the pair had stolen that day.
